Liquid Roof Coating

Categories:

A rubber roof paint coating is a liquid membrane that increases the life of structurally sound roofs and protects the underlying waterproofing from damage. These systems are available in a wide range of technologies including acrylic, silicone and polyurethanes to suit a wide variety of building needs and budgets.

These systems can be sprayed on the roof surface but are also usually applied by brush, roller or squeegee. They are highly durable and provide excellent resistance to foot traffic, building movement stress, thermal fluctuation and UV exposure. They are also vapour permeable to eliminate risk of surface blistering due to pressure from water vapor build-up. These systems allow for the covering of existing roofs without removing and replacing the existing waterproofing thus reducing labour costs.

Protective Shield: Liquid Roof Coating for Longevity

Liquid roof coating is a versatile system and can be used for roof restoration, re-covering an existing membrane or mending small areas. It can be used over metal, PVC, EPDM rubber single-ply, chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE-Hypalon), built-up roofing, BUR and spray polyurethane foam roofs.

There are many different systems on the market and selecting the correct product for a particular project requires careful consideration. Factors include system cost, expected longevity and climate where the roof is located as well as flammability and code requirements.

The best liquid roofing systems are based on polymer resins. There are two types of polymer – aliphatic and aromatic. The aliphatic resins are white in color and offer greater reflectivity which can help reduce building energy costs. The aromatic resins have a metallic gray color and are less reflective. Single-component moisture cure polyurethane systems are popular as they have a better price/performance ratio than the two component polyurea and polyurethane systems.
