IPAF stands for International Powered Access Federation, an organization dedicated to promoting the safe use of powered access equipment such as MEWPs. 2 Start Training is one such provider that offers IPAF-accredited courses that lead to IPAF certification. Upon completion of the training, delegates will be eligible to use their new IPAF license. There are several IPAF training courses available, including a practical-based course and classroom-based modules.

IPAF training is recognized globally, and is increasingly mandated on construction sites throughout the GCC. Successful trainees are awarded a PAL card (Powered Access Licence), the most widely recognised proof of operator training. This card is issued by IPAF and displays a trainee’s photo and signature. A photo taken during the training is verified by IPAF. PAL cards are issued to users of platforms, manufacturers, and training providers. The IPAF is present throughout the Middle East and Far East, and is a global organization.

IPAF MEWP training is also offered in both classroom and eLearning formats. This course teaches operators to safely operate the various types of MEWPs. Also known as aerial lifts and cherry pickers, these vehicles can be used for a variety of tasks. The courses cover a variety of different types, including Mobile Vertical (3a) and Mobile Boom (3b). Push Around Vertical (PAV) MEWP training can last half a day. Meanwhile, the insulated aerial device (IAD) MEWP course lasts two days.
